But this bugs me…

… when someone fails to realize what Lifeblog is.

It’s PC and mobile phone software – NOT A BLOG SERVICE!

Let me repeat: Lifeblog is not a blog service.

Just means I’m not doing my job.

Nokia releases ‘moblog’ camera phone | CNET News.com

Nokia recently announced a site called Lifeblog that lets subscribers archive cell phone photos in chronological order, along with other data, including text, video and audio, using a personal mobile Web log, or “moblog.”

Not! It’s not a “site.”

  1. you are fighting a losing battle, dude
if you don’t want to get people confused you should have called it LifeDatabase or LifeRecorder or MyLifeRecorderThatOnlyICanSeeOnMyMobileAndMyPC
“Blog” has already been taken by the general public to mean a website and no matter how well you market it, until you change the name that is what people will think rightly or wrongly.

  2. Charlie,
Blog is generally short for “web log” which implies some online component.
I love the concept of a “lifeblog.” It is like the “soundtrack of our lives” which i often think of my iPod as.
It would be great if Lifeblog did tie in with external sites ** like Buzznet ** Once it integrates seamlessly with online components I’m sure it will be more clear 🙂

  3. Oh, we know the name issue well. Sometimes, you need to take the long view, which sometimes means there are some temporary gaps.
Blogging from the PC and mobile will come. But not everything that says blog means it’s a service. Ecto is a great client, but there is no service.
Lifeblog will also have a blogging feature, but we’re not setting up a blog service. We’ll leave that to others, such as Buzznet, Blogger, and TypePad.

  4. we’ll have to agree to disagree 🙂
“Ecto is a great client, but there is no service.” – Ecto doesn’t “deceive” by having the word blog in its title! So nobody could confuse Ecto as being a blog service.
LifeBlog as the name of your product only makes sense if you can post your stuff to a blog and I am grateful that you seem to be thinking of that!
    Ciao!
