Caribe virus in two wierd places

I’ve never received a Bluetooth virus before. Today, I got hit twice.

The first one was as I was jogging across the bridge in front of the Tour Eiffel. There were few pedestrians but a ton of cars stopped in traffic. I was recording a video and by pressing the buttons I almost installed the virus.

The second one was in the airport in Berlin, and there were only about 10 people around, most of who worked for the airport, and unlikely to be carrying a Series 60 smartphone.

Weird.

  1. Got Caribe sitting in a cafe in Cardiff via bluetooth to my Nokia 6610 twice from the same user. (Yes, I was stupid enough to open it) It seems to slow every application up and runs down the battery very fast. Standby time down to about 8hrs; I presume thats due to constantly searching for other victims.

  2. Don’t worry about Caribe, I worried about getting rid of it, but its easy as DIY.
Go to TOOLS, then Manager, highlight caribe and it disappears.
I was told I would have to pay £20 to get rid of it at an Orange shop in Stratford London, “because that’s what Nokia charge us” what a load of cobblers.
I am certain its gone, without having to download some fancy filE manager.
THERE ARE SOME SHOPS THAT ARE GOING TO MAKE A BOMB, PRETENDING TO DOWNLOAD, BUT JUST GOING TO THE NOKIAS OWN FILE MANAGER AND DELETING !!!!!!!!
It’s great that Caribe is apparently not harmful and a warning of nasty thinGs to come,WHICH COULD NEED ZAPPING WITH something from Pc-cillin, but for now, I think my Nokia is alive and well and virus freeeeeeeee.

  3. Cheers 4 dat! i have recieved it several tymes n had trouble wit o2 but thankz 2 u its all sorted!

  7. Hi,
I’m from Sydney, Australia and received the virus last weekend. It opens on top of the main menu with the graphic of a jigsaw piece. It searches continuously on bluetooth for other machines and drains your battery. I could not find it via the file manager or other SEEN areas on the phone. Nokia in Sydney say they will upgrade the phone again (to v5.27) for $45 AU and this will rid me of the virus.

  8. Hi all.. Imalso from Sydney and have received this pain in the ass virus. I deletedit from applications manager in the main menu of my NOKIA 6600 but when I switch thephone on the jigsaw icon appears on the screen.. and yes it destroys your battery life. I was told by vodafone that a website called http://www.tsgpacific.com has a download that can remove it for good. However, they also said there is a fee for the download. Good luck everyone.. seems the more things go digital the more vulnerable we all are to this crap!

  9. Ok everyone,
I found the perfect file to erase all your worries on this stupid CARIBE file.
been up all night worrying about my nokia 7610 phone but all you have to do is go to http://www.jamanda.com and download the file which erases everything. Guaranteed.
I went to the site using my phone so downloading is easier and no hassle (from pc to phone etc)
Hope that helps. And the moral of the story is not to accept bluetooth files from strangers.
    Cheers!
