In the past few months I’ve had to migrate from a Nokia 7610 to a Nokia 6680, and then again from a Nokia 7610 to a Nokia 6630. Having had to change phones so many times, I wanted to try Nokia’s little Data Mover that comes with the new Series 60 phones.
The move to the 6680 was a charm. Basically, everything moved, I didn’t suffer any duplications, everything was set the way I had set it on my 7610. I don’t recall what I did with my Lifeblog data, though, so I don’t know if Lifeblog behaved during the transfer.
But, hey, it was easy to do – start the app, transfer part of it to the old phone, transfer patiently, and that’s it.
I just want to mention that it didn’t go so well when I went from the 7610 to the 6630. first of all, I wanted to go from the 6680 to the 6630, but the Data Mover didn’t work I think Data Mover is a one time deal and might prevent moving data to a next phone. Not smart if I am going to want to move my data to an even newer phone.
So I had to uninstall the little Data Mover app from my old 7610 and do the process all over again with the 6630. Turns out the 6630 transfers less stuff than the Data Mover on the 6680, so obviously there was some evolution of the app in the mean time (the 6630 came out before the 6680). But, that also meant that the experience wasn’t the same. And when I did transfer, it was a mess, since the Lifeblog thumbnails and such confused the whole issue.
Sigh.
At least I know that this nifty little data mover app is getting better and better. Indeed, with all the data we are starting to carry on our phones, upgrading and moving all personal data should be painless. Data Mover is certainly on the way to making it completely painless.
I think they need to work on that transfer app and then make compatible with the rest of the series 60 phones they have. Plus making the app available on Nokia.com wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
could you link to the datamover app cuz i dont see it automatically on my 7610 and probably have to download it and install it.
i need to move my data from 6630 to 7610 like you did….it’s for erin fetherston. she likes the 7610 better than the 6630.

i moved my data from the 7610 to the 6680 and then from the 7610 to the 6630, not the other way. i had to do it manually when going back to the 7160 from the 6680.

hi, i am thinkin’ of buyin’ a mobile. so, i have 2 choices (given by my friends) i.e nokia 7610 or nokia 6630. so, could you please heip me figure out which is better, takin’ in account all features. it would be better if u could just conlude everythin’ in one last sentence i.e which is better?

I have a problem using data mover for 6670. I have a 3650 and transfered the data with datamover from it to my new 6670. I recently did a firmware update on my 6670, all the data is of course gone. Now I want to do the data transfer from my old 3650 (the contacts!) again, but it doesn´t let me do it again. I cannot check what I want to transfer, it says only something with “continue data transfer”, but since the contacts has been already once transfered, the box “contacts” is not available . I reinstalled datamover on 6670, but it still doesn´t work. It must be somewhere a file hidden with the info, that datamover has done already a transfer. This file has to be deleted. Does anybody know a solution to this? let me know: plattine@yahoo.de

hello sir/madam, this is ajeet. i m a 6670user. in my set i have lifeblog softwar. i m pretty much sure that u a awre of this software. i need to transfer my data to my PC so this is the only software. when i put my data cable into PC it asks for licence. so please do my a small favour, ask my require quieries and forward me specific no.

I try to find a new firmware to may Nokia 6670… and I found in Nokia’s Report a new firmware version for my phone (v6.5522.0), but I can’t find any web to download necesary software or download de firmware binary file… PLEASE!… Where I’ll find this files to upgrade the firmware of my 6670??
