MobHappy points out: Why Emerging Markets Get So Much Attention

What have I been saying?

Oh boy oh boy, and the parameters are all converging nicely for growth in the emerging markets similar to the growth we saw in 99-01 in Europe and Asia.

Are we ready, though?

  1. I’m not sure the behavior will be the same. Just yesterday, I was speaking to a group working on a mobile service for the philippines. WINKsite was too advanced for them as at least a third of their target users are in areas where the mobile infrastructure doesn’t yet support WAP. SMS or nothing. It’d be interesting to see what fraction of the developing world looks that way.

  2. Scott,
    Thanks for the info.
I was thinking that very issue today.
In fact, I have been thinking a lot about emerging market and what to do there. I think it even has implications for what we do in advanced markets as well.
    Tchau,
