StatusNet – can this lead to P2P social networking?

StatusNet is the open source microblogging platform that helps you share and connect in real-time within your own domain.

I keep coming back to the thought a life not mediated by the cloud. One manifestation of this would be a peer-peer social networking, some internet-plumbed service that does not require a central server.

    What’s a mobile phone? Always on, always connected.
    You see where I’m going with this, which is why I’ll stop typing now since I’m sure you’ve A) heard my rant before B) saw the “Mobile Web Server” project at Nokia that was made public, then killed and C) know that we’re years away from seeing it become true.
